Fluoroalkyl(hetero)arylation of allylic alcohols with perfluoroalkyl iodide and difluoroacetic acid as coupling partners is reported herein. Mechanistic studies disclosed that the aryl migration proceeded through neophyl rearrangement in a radical pathway controlled by radical polarity. Moreover, promising antifungal activity against Magnaporthe grisea is also described for the first time.
Iron-catalyzedtrifluoromethylation with concomitant 1,2-migration of an aryl group starting from diaryl allyl alcohol was achieved under mild conditions. This reaction system affords alpha-substituted-beta-trifluoromethyl carbonyl compounds in high efficiency. In the case of substrates bearing different aryl groups, selective migration was observed.

A visible-light induced radical 1,2-aryl migration of α,α-diarylallyl alcohols was developed toward β-polochloromethylated ketones with commercially available CHCl3 and CH2Cl2 as tri- and dichloromethyl radical precursors.
