  An object of the present invention is to find new pharmacological effects of cysteine derivatives. Studying new pharmacological effects of the cysteine derivatives, the cysteine derivatives were found to exhibit excellent effects of inhibiting angiogenesis. Accordingly, these cysteine derivatives are expected to be useful as therapeutic agents for diseases in which the angiogenesis participates, particularly retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion and retinal artery occlusion, neovascular glaucoma and tumors such as hemangioma.
