A Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative annulation of pyridin-2(1H)-ones with alkynesviadouble C–H activation to produce highly functionalized 4H-quinolizin-4-ones is disclosed. Palladium-catalyzed oxidative amidation of conjugated olefin with 2-pyridone is developed. A series of E-Enamides were synthesized with high stereoselectivities. Other cyclic and acyclic amides are also tolerated in this catalytic system.
