The platinaboratrane [Pt(PPh3)B(mt)3}](Pt→B)10 (mt = methimazolyl) is prone to oxidative addition reactions with a range of substrates (Cl2, Br2, I2, HCl, CH3I) without disrupting the platinum−boron dative bond, as illustrated by the first structurally characterized platinaboratranes [PtH(PPh3)B(mt)3}]Cl(Pt→B)8 and [PtI2B(mt)3}](Pt→B)8.
