Provided is a polymer electrolyte containing a block copolymer comprising one or more blocks having sulfonic acid groups and one or more blocks having substantially no sulfonic acid group, and at least one block among all blocks is a block having aromatic rings in the main chain thereof, and a method for producing the same. The polymer electrolyte is suitable for a proton conductive film of a fuel cell due to excellent water resistance and heat resistance, and high proton conductivity.
A recording material contains an electron donating leuco dye and, as an electron accepting compound, a salicylic acid derivative having an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or an aryloxy group as a substituent or a metal salt thereof. The recording material has good color developability, working preservability and stability.
A polymer electrolyte membrane having outstanding water resistance and high thermal resistance, moreover having practical strength required for use as a polymer electrolyte membrane of a solid polymer electrolyte type fuel cell at low price, and a method for producing the polymer electrolyte membrane are provided. And moreover the present invention provides a method for producing a polymer electrolyte membrane comprising the steps of, (i) impregnating some of the pores of a porous membrane with a solution (1) of a polymer electrolyte having a contact angle of less than 90°to said porous membrane, (ii) impregnating a remaining part in the pores of the porous membrane with a solution (2) of a polymer electrolyte having a larger contact angle than that of the solution to said porous membrane, and (iii) removing the solvent.

There is provided a polymer electrolyte which shows excellent characteristics as proton conductive membrane of fuel cells and the like. This polymer electrolyte contains an aromatic polymer which is characterized by having a super strong acid group in a side chain.
