  A synthetic route to 2-lambda-3-phosphachinolines is reported. The reaction of the phosphanetriylammoniumion 1, [PNAr]+, with alkines 2, RCCR', (R = R'= Ph; R = H, R'= Ph), affords the N-protonated derivative phosphachinolinium salts 5, which can be deprotonated into its neutral form 6. The structure of 5a (R = R') has been elucidated by a X-ray study.
