  The title compound, diaquabis(5-oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylato-O-2)zinc(II), [Zn(Cs5H6NO3)(2)(H2O)(2)], consists of a two-dimensional net of molecules parallel to the ((1) over bar 01) plane linked by hydrogen bonds, with every Zn2+ ion displaying a distorted tetrahedral coordination. The main difference between the two 5-oxoprolinate ligands is in the conformation of the five-membered ring, with one having an envelope form and the other a planar twisted form.
