The invention relates to a radiopaque composition comprising at least one monomer, radiopaque filler particles and optionally a curing system for curing the monomer, wherein the radiopaque filler particles comprise a polymeric matrix having radiopaque material dispersed therein, and wherein the radiopaque filler particles have a particle size (d50) between 10 and 1000 pm determined by conventional transmission bright field light microscopy. The invention also relates to the use of the radiopaque composition as bone cement for orthopedic procedures. The radiopaque composition can be cured and also used for producing medical implants.
