A facile, solvent free, ecofriendly approach for the synthesis of 2-amino-3(ethylcarboxy)-4,6-disubsti-tuted pyridine 4 and pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines 6 is herein described employing neat reaction conditions under microwave irradiation.
