  The 13C NMR data of nine 3-(1,1-dimethylallyl)coumarins are reported and compared with those of the corresponding C-3 unsubstituted compounds. A spectro-scopic criterion for distinguishing C-3 alkylated dihydrofurano- from dihydro-pyrano-coumarins is proposed.
