7-Bromo-6H-benz[cd]azulen-6-one, 7-Chloro-6H-benz[cd]azulen-6-one and its derivative were prepared in four steps starting from tetrahydroacenaphthene. Formation of the corresponding cations in strong acid is suggested on the basis of 1H NMR and UV spectra.
