(Trimethylsilyl)alkyne derivatives that are lithiated in the δ position via non-radical routes can cyclize in a stereoselective manner (≥96-98%) to give exocyclic alkenes containing five-membered carbocycles in high yields.

This paper presents a nickel-catalyzed intramolecularhydrosilylation of various aryl silanes containing a triple bond. The Ni(0) catalyst was generated through a simple reduction of the NiBr2bipy pre-catalyst using manganese metal or via electroreduction. In the latter case, the amount of electrons involved is catalytic, making the process highly manageable.
