Lanthanide triflates, Ln(OTf)3, serve as efficient catalysts for the intramolecular hydroalkoxylation (HO)/cyclization of primary/secondary and aliphatic/aromatic hydroxyalkenes in room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs).
