Dibenzylbutanolide lignans including cordigerines were synthetized and transformed in the corresponding diarylbutane lignans which were submitted to non-phenolic oxidativecoupling conditions by using RuO2 or Tl2O3 in trifluoroacetic medium to give deoxyschizandrins.
