  The subject invention provides compounds and methods for derivatizing, identifying and/or quantifying carbonylated bio molecules by using compounds of the invention. The invention provides compounds and a method of using such compounds for the analysis of oxidized bio molecular species (such as peptides, proteins, and lipids). This method advantageously allows simultaneous derivatization, quantification and enrichment of carbonylated samples and is fully amenable to analysis by mass spectrometry.
