The compositions and methods are also useful against conformationally altered prions, bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

The disinfecting composition generally includes one or more Ci-8 alcohols and at least three surfactants. The disinfecting composition passes one or more of the following European standards at a contact time of less than or equal to about 1 minute: EN 13697, EN 13727, EN 1275, EN 1650, and EN 13624.
