Supramolecular host-guest assemblies of sulfate ions and amidoammonium receptor cations are shown to act as catalysts for olefinepoxidation by hydrogen peroxide under biphasic conditions, showing the first case of sulfate ions being used as catalyst by conversion to peroxymonosulfate.
