  Two functionalized Ru(II) complexes [Ru(bpy)(2)-(PTZO)](2+) (1) and [Ru(phen)(2)(PTZO)](2+) (2) were synthesized, and complex I was characterized by crystallography. Photophysical and electrochemical studies suggest that the MLCT excited states of the complexes be dominated by the ligand PTZO.[GRAPHICS]
