A number of 3,9-substituted 6-oxo-1,3,4,6-tetrahydro-2H-pyrido[1,2-a][1,3,5]triazine-7-carbonitriles were synthesized by reaction of 5-R-6-amino-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitriles with primary amines and excess formaldehyde.
