    The present invention relates to catalyst components for the polymerization of olefins comprising a titanium compound, having at least a Ti-halogen bond, and at least two electron donor compounds supported on a Mg dihalide, said catalyst component being characterized by the fact that at least one of the electron donor compounds is selected from ethers containing two or more ether groups which are further characterized by the formation of complexes with anhydrous magnesium dichloride in an amount less than 60 mmoles per 100 g of MgCl 2 and by the failure of entering into substitution reactions with TiCl 4 or by reacting in that way for less than 50% by moles, and at least another electron donor compound is selected from esters of mono or polycarboxylic acids. Said catalyst components are able to produce propylene polymers which, for high values of xylene insolubility, show a broad range of isotacticity.

    The present invention relates to a catalyst for olefin polymerization which comprises, (A) A solid catalyst component comprising magnesium, titanium, halogen and a specific electron-donating compound selected from ether compounds having at least two ether groups characterized by a certain reactivity towards MgCl2 and TiCl4; (B) An organic aluminum compound; and (C) An alkoxyester compound represented by the general formula (I): (R1O)i(R3O)k-Z-COOR4 ---(I) in which each of R?1, R2, R3 and R4¿ independently represents a group selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic hydrocarbon group, an alicyclic hydrocarbon group, an aromatic hydrocarbon group, a polycyclic hydrocarbon group and a heterocyclic compound group, Z represents an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon group which may be substituted with an aromatic group or a polycyclic group, and i, j and k each are integers from 0 to 3 with the proviso that the sum of 1, j and k is at least 1. The catalyst is characterized by an excellent hydrogen response, stereospecificity and activity as well.
