Synthesis and effects of 3-methylthiopropanoyl thiolesters of lipoic acid, methional metabolite mimics
8S-Bis(3-methylthiopropanoyl) thiolesters of lipoic acid were synthesized with the carboxyl moiety of lipoate modified as methyl or water soluble choline esters. Abstract Chemical analysis of Petasitesfragrans yielded the eremophilane type of sesquiterpenes: petasol, isopetasol, S-petasin, neo-S-petasin, and a mixture of petasol derivatives, with caffeic acid methyl ester and a mixture of phytosterols. Their structures were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
