    A color photographic light-sensitive element is described comprising a support having thereon a silver halide emulsion layer containing therein a 3-anilino-5-pyrazolone magenta color-forming coupler represented by formula (I) ##STR1## wherein X represents a halogen atom or an alkoxy group; Ar represents an aryl group; R.sub.1 represents hydrogen, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or an alkylthio group; Y represents a non-metallic atomic group forming a 5-membered or 6-membered ring together with the ##STR2## group, except that Y does not include a carbonyl group; and Z represents hydrogen or a coupling-off group. The magenta color images obtained after color development processing of the color photographic light-sensitive element have an excellent light-fastness, and the formation of yellow stain in the unexposed areas thereof is prevented.

    The present invention relates to compounds of the type comprising a ballasting group which renders said compounds substantially fast to diffusion in hydrophilic colloid media and at least one photographically useful group which is chemically linked to said ballasting group, and to photographic elements containing at least one compound of the type referred to. The ballasting groups in the compounds according to the present invention are derived from mono- or di-esters or -ethers of glycerol. The linkage between ballasting group and photographically useful group can be realized via acid chlorides which are derived from the above-said glycerol derivatives.

    The present invention relates to a photographic element comprising in a hydrophilic colloid layer a ballasted compound comprising a ballasting moiety that renders such compound fast to diffusion in said hydrophilic colloid layer and a photographically useful moiety linked to this ballasting moiety, the ballasting moiety corresponding to the general formula: wherein A is hydrogen, C₁-C₂₀ alkyl, or aryl; R is C₁-C₂₀ alkyl; R¹ is hydrogen, hydroxy, sulpho, carboxy, cyano, a halogen atom, trifluoromethyl, hydroxyalkyl, sulphoalkyl, carboxyalkyl, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, acyl, R²CONH- , R²NHCO- , R²NHSO₂ , or R²SO₂N(R³)- , each of R² and R³ being hydrogen, C₁-C₅ alkyl, or aryl and when both present having a same or a different significance.     The present invention provides a dye diffusion transfer imaging process for the production of retained images, comprising the steps of: - applying an alkaline aqueous processing composition to an image-wise exposed photographic element that contains in operative association with an alkali-permeable silver halide hydrophilic colloid emulsion layer a redox-activatable compound that initially is immobile in an aqueous alkali-permeable colloid medium and is capable of releasing under alkaline conditions in reduced state a diffusible dye moiety, - providing a silver halide developing agent in said photographic element for being present therein during application of said alkaline aqueous processing composition to cause as a function of development of said silver halide emulsion layer the release of said diffusible dye moiety from said redox-activatable compound upon reduction thereof at the non-silver image areas or the loss of the capacity of said redox-activatable compound of releasing said diffusible dye moiety upon oxidation of said redox-activatable compound at the silver image areas, and - allowing diffusion of said diffusible dye moiety into an extracting liquid or disposable receptor medium and leaving in said photographic element a silver image as well as an UV-absorbing dye image retained congruously with said silver image, said redox-activatable compound comprising at least two dye units together absorbing radiation all over the range between 300 and 450 nm. The present invention also provides a photographic silver halide element comprising such a redox-activatable compound.
