Treatment of di-t-butyl(chloro)-2,4,6-triisopropylphenylstannane with t-butyllithium gives tetra-t-butyl-1,2-bis(2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl)distannane (5) which shows restricted rotations about the SnC and/or SnSn bonds even at high temperatures.
