  The tetra -butylammonium fluoride (TBAF) initiated reaction of pheny1thiomethyltrimethysilane (1) with aldehydes and ketones is reported. ß-Hydroxy-phenylsulphides are formed in good yields even with ketones that contain enolisable protons.
