The electrochemical reduction of C6F13I on a carbon fibre cathode in DMF as solvent and in the presence of SO2 is studied. Depending on the water content of the solvent, perfluorohexyl sulfinic acid C6F13SO2H or perfluoropentyl carboxylic acid C5F11COOH are obtained.
