A new type of chemistry of carbon disulfide proceeding by way of nucleophilic attack of tris(trimethylsilyl)methyllithium (TsiLi) at carbon of carbon disulfide is reported. The treatment of TsiLi and CS2 with some symmetrical and unsymmetrical benzyl halides has yielded novel multifunctional compounds with SiMe3, SH and CS groups.
