modulation of reduction potentials of two series of bis(pyridinium)alkane salts is described. Study of the encapsulation of bis(pyridinium)alkane guests within the CB[7] cavity revealed the critical influence of the linker length and the position of the heteroatom on the reduction potentials of encapsulated guests. CB[7] complexation of pyridinium salts induced reduction potential changes ranging between

The reaction of BiCl3 and N,N-dimethyl-1,2-bis(pyridyl)ethane chloride (Me,Me-Bpe) in 2 M HCl affords a polymer chlorobismuthate complex ((Me,Me)Bpe)[BiCl5]} n (I). The structure of complex I is determined by X-ray diffraction analysis (CIF file CCDC 1058842). The anionic moiety of the complex is presented by a 1D coordination polymer ([BiCl5]2n–) n consisting of octahedral blocks Cl6} linked by

Dehydrogenation of alkanes to generate alkenes is catalyzed by a supramolecular framework of a tetrathiafulvalene derivative under ambient conditions, and a confinement effect of the framework is responsible for the oxidation reaction in the presence of oxygen.
A system based on a molecular cage, in which bisdiazonium, bispyridinium, and anthraquinone guests can be complexed to the host sequentially through the application of suitable stimuli, is reported.
