  Papain from Carica papaya demonstrated catalytic promiscuity was first discovered to catalyze the synthesis of trifluoromethyl carbinol derivatives via aldol reaction between alpha,alpha,alpha-trifluoromethyl ketones and aliphatic ketones in a mixed solvent of DMF and water.
