Synthesis, crystal structure, enzyme inhibition, DNA protection, and antimicrobial studies of di- and triorganotin(IV) derivatives of 2-thiopheneacetic acid

A series of organotin(IV) complexes, [Bu2Sn(C6H5O2S)(2)] (1), [Bu3Sn(C6H5O2S)] (2), [Oct(2)Sn(C6H5O2S)(2)] (3) of 2-thiopheneacetic acid (HL) have been prepared and characterized through FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of 2 has been confirmed by X-ray single crystal analysis, in which tin adopts a trigonal bipyramidal geometry. The synthesized complexes have been screened for antibacterial, DNA protection, and enzyme inhibition activities against acetylcholinesterase as well as butylcholenesterase.
