  Oxidation of either 2,6-dibromo- (1), 2-bromo- (3), or 2-bromo-6-chloro-p-acetamidophenol (5) at a Pt anode in aq. HClO4 affords the corresponding common, 2, or rare, 4 and 6, marine halo-p-quinols in practicable yields, whereas literature recipes as to either chemical or electrochemical oxidations proved to be ineffective; these halo-p-quinols proved to be extremely alkali-labile, in part due to a NHI-like rearrangement.

  (EN) Homogentisic acid derivatives, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such homogentisic acid derivatives, and a method of treatment using such derivatives for the treatment of conditions wherein protein kinase C inhibition is therapeutically indicated. In particular, the present invention discloses the treatment of the following PKC-mediated disease states using homogentisic acid derivatives: cancer, cardiovascular and renal disorders, inflammation, central nervous system disorders, immunosuppression, and septic shock.(FR) On décrit des dérivés d'acide homogentisique, des compositions pharmaceutiques les comprenant, et un traitement impliquant leur utilisation en cas de troubles où l'inhibition de la protéine kinase C (PKC) est indiquée sur le plan thérapeutique.
