    The present invention relate to a novel silane coupling agent and a medical and/or dental curable composition comprising the same. It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel silane coupling agent that imparts high affinity to a radical polymerizable monomer, thereby imparting high mechanical strength, flexibility and durability when used for a medical and/or dental curable composition, and an inorganic filler surface-treated with the novel silane coupling agent and a novel medical and/or dental curable composition. A silane coupling agent including repeating units such as a urethane bond and polyethylene glycol (ether bond) at a specific position is used.

    Process for the chlorination of an organic compound comprising at least one aliphatic hydroxyl group, said process comprising the steps of actively adding to said organic compound (i) hydrogen chloride and (ii) a HCl desolubilizer or a precursor thereof, and heating the resulting mixture at a reaction temperature in the range 20°-160°C, wherein said chlorination is performed in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of (a) ketones, (b) aldehydes, (c) carboxylic acids with 1-8 carbon atoms, (d) organic compounds comprising a β-diketone moiety or a β-keto aldehyde moiety, and (e) organic polymers comprising at least one carbonyl group, having a vapour pressure at the reaction temperature of less than 1 mbar, a weight average molecular weight Mw of 500 g/mole or more, and are soluble in the reaction mixture at the reaction temperature, and wherein the HCl desolubilizer is an alkali metal chloride salt, an alkaline earth metal chloride salt, or an acid.

    Integrated processes of preparing industrial chemicals starting from seed oil feedstock compositions containing one or more unsaturated fatty acids or unsaturated fatty acid esters, which are essentially free of metathesis catalyst poisons, particularly hydroperoxides; metathesis of the feedstock composition with a lower olefin, such as ethylene, to form a reduced chain olefin, preferably, a reduced chain α-olefin, and a reduced chain unsaturated acid or ester, preferably, a reduced chain α,Ω-unsaturated acid or ester. The reduced chain unsaturated acid or ester may be (trans)esterified to form a polyester polyolefin, which may be epoxidized to form a polyester polyepoxide. The reduced chain unsaturated acid or ester may be hydroformylated with reduction to produce an α,Ω-hydroxy acid or α,Ω-hydroxy ester, which may be (trans)esterified with a polyol to form an α,Ωpolyester polyol. Alternatively, the reduced chain unsaturated acid or ester may be hydroformylated with reductive amination to produce an α,Ω-amino acid or α,Ω-amino ester, which may be (trans)esterified to form an α,Ωpolyester polyamine.

    A problem of the invention is to provide polyethylene terephthalate, a molded article of which has low acetaldehyde content and oligomer content. The problem of the invention can be solved by a manufacturing method of polyethylene terephthalate including a step of carrying out melt polycondensation by using a compound represented by the following general formula (I) as a polycondensation catalyst to obtain melt polycondensed polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of from 0.48 to 0.53 dL/g and a terminal carboxyl number of from 14 to 22 mmol/kg; and a step of further solid phase polycondensing the melt polycondensed polyethylene terephthalate to obtain solid phase polycondensed polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of from 0.70 to 0.86 dL/g. [In the foregoing general formula (I), R1 represents an alkyl group having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms.]
