  A water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic, in which an ultraviolet scattering agent is uniformly dispersed in a base, an excellent ultraviolet protective effect is stably imparted, and whitishness is suppressed. The present invention relates to a water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic comprising the following components (a), (b), (c) and (d) : (a) titanium dioxide surface-treated with a fatty acid and/or an alkylalkoxysilane; (b) an amphiphilic substance which is solid at normal temperature; (c) a linear silicone oil; and (d) a volatile hydrocarbon oil.
