    Disclosed is an organic EL device comprising an electroluminescent layer having a single layer or a multilayered structure of two or more layers, the electroluminescent layer containing a pyridine derivative represented by the formula (1): wherein Ar1 represents an aryl group, m represents an integer of 1 to 5, Φ represents a group represented by the formula (1a) : (wherein Ar2 represents an aryl group, and p represents an integer of 1 to 5), or the formula (1b): (wherein Ar3 represents an aryl group, and q represents an integer of 1 to 5), and n represents an integer of 0 to 2. The organic EL device is excellent in luminescent efficiency, luminance and durability, and emits blue light with improved luminescent efficiency and luminance, which are the same as those of other colors, and is also is excellent in durability.
