  Five new compounds, isolated from the rhizomes of Costus speciosus have been characterized as tetradecyl 13-methylpentadecanoate, tetradecyl 11-methyltridecanoate, 14--oxotricosanoic acid, 14-oxoheptacosanoic acid and 15-oxo-octacosanoic acid by spectral and chemical studies.
