  • Direct Preparation of (Z,Z)-1,4-Dienic Units with a New C6 Homologating Agent: Synthesis of α-Linolenic Acid

    Syntheses of two C6 homologating agents 2a and 2f are described. These agents allow direct access to the (Z,Z)-1,4-diene unit 3, a moiety present in a wide number of natural compounds. Compound 2a is prepared in 40% overall yield by selective epoxidation of methoxycyclohexa-1,4-diene followed by oxidative ring cleavage and transacetalization. Compound 2f is obtained in 90% yield by a one-step oxidative dimerization of phosphonium salt 1. A short synthetic application of these two new C6 homologating agents to the synthesis of α-linolenic acid is described.

    本发明提供一种(顺,顺,顺)‑3,6,9‑十九碳三烯的制备方法,以1‑四氢吡喃氧基‑3‑丁炔为原料,和对甲苯磺酸‑2‑戊炔‑1‑醇酯进行反应生成3,6‑壬二炔‑1‑醇,随后在Lindlar催化下氢化生成(Z,Z)‑3,6‑壬二烯‑1‑醇,产物发生溴代反应后生成(Z,Z)‑1‑溴代‑3,6‑壬二烯,再与三苯基膦反应生成膦盐,最后与癸醛通过维悌希反应生成(Z,Z,Z)‑3,6,9‑19:Hy,所得产物经光谱分析后确定为目标产物(Z,Z,Z)‑3,6,9‑19:Hy。和传统方法相比,采用高纯度分析纯试剂为原料,价廉易得;反应条件温和,操作简便;产物的纯度高达90%以上,所含几何异构体比传统方法降低80%。
  • Sex Pheromone of Browntail Moth, Euproctis chrysorrhea (L.): Synthesis and Field Deployment

    The browntail moth, Euproctis chrysorrhea (L.), is native to Eurasia, where periodic outbreaks result in defoliation of forest, shade, and ornamental trees. In addition to the damage caused by defoliation, human contact with larval urticating hairs often results in severe dermatitis. Hence, tools for monitoring and controlling the moth populations are desirable. The female-produced sex pheromone of the browntail moth was identified previously, but the synthesis had not been published. This paper reports the synthesis of the pheromone of the browntail moth, (7Z,13Z, 16Z,19Z)-docosatetraenyl isobutyrate, using in a key step a Wittig olefination of (62)-13-(tetrahydo-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)tridecenal. Field trapping studies were conducted with rubber septa and string formulations of the pheromone and included dose-response, pheromone purity, and dispenser-aging trials. It was found that traps baited with 250 mu g of pheromone of 91-94% isomeric purity (main impurity presumably being the 13E isomer) on rubber septa are suitable for monitoring moth populations during the entire flight season.

    Total stereospecific synthesis of EPA has been performed by a sequence of ozonolysis, selective reduction and Wittig reactions which affords the cis-skipped olefinic system. Versatile Compound 4, readily prepared from dihydro anisole allowed us to prepare the skipped dienic synthon 2 in high yield.
