1,9-Dithia-2,15-cyclohexadecadiyne Cyclization of 1,7-dibromo-2-heptanone (1) with NaHS leads to 1-thia-cyclooctanone and to the 16-membered ring system 3a. The latter is transformed to the title compound 7 via the disemicarbazone 4 and the diselenadiazole 5. Both triple bonds are introduced in the last step of the synthetic sequence by a thermal fragmentation process of the 1,2,3-selenadiazole rings.
