AbstractCoupling of protected-amino acid halides (chloride, fluoride) mediated by commercial anion exchange resin for the solution phase synthesis of peptides is described. The reaction was carried out in an organic medium, circumventing the use of an organic base or an inorganic base. The coupling is fast, clean and racemization free. The anion exchange resin functions as a solid-phase basic scavenger

A facile synthesis of acyl fluorides from carboxylic acids in a practical and byproduct-free manner was effected with commercially available KI/AgSCF3 reagents under conditions of high functional group tolerance, and the acyl fluoride intermediates were easily transformed to the corresponding esters, amides, and several carbon-carbon bond-forming products. This approach can be successfully applied

(Aib) units. Upon inclusion of pyridine-anchored helical peptides between the zinc porphyrin units, 1 displayed an intense exciton-coupled circular dichroism (CD) band at 410-450 nm, whose sign reflected the helical sense of the guest peptides. Studies with conformationally defined dehydrophenylalanine-containing analogues indicated that the dynamic helical chains in the host are stereochemically harmonized
