Several novel benzofuran-containing spirolactones were synthesized and characterized using copper-catalyzed heterodimerization of 1,2-diarylcyclopropenones, and followed by sequential intramolecular cyclopropene ring opening and oxidative cyclization. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
