An aromatic carbonic ester is prepared continuously and efficiently by reacting an aromatic carboxylic ester with an aliphatic carbonic ester and/or an aromatic/aliphatic carbonic ester through transesterification. A raw material comprising an aromatic carboxylic ester and an aliphatic or aromatic/aliphatic carbonic ester and a catalyst are continuously fed into the first stage of a reaction-distillation column (1) through a feed pipe (5), while an aliphatic carbonic ester (a) having a boiling point lower than that of the reaction fluid present in the second stage under the above first stage is continuously fed into the second stage through a feed pipe (6). The second plate is preferably the bottom of the reaction-distillation column (1). The feed of the aliphatic carbonic ester (a) is preferably 0.001 to 5 times that of the raw material by weight.
