The straightforward synthesis of new isoindolo[2,1-a]quinolinederivatives from 2,4-disubstituted 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines bearing a furan fragment via the intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction is reported. In the presence of tin powder, the addition of bromoacetonitrile to aldimines gives beta-amino nitriles in THF. Chlorotrimethylsilane can accelerate the reaction.
