    The present invention relates to a solid catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins CH 2 ═CHR in which R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical with 1-12 carbon atoms, comprising Mg, Ti, halogen and an electron donor selected from maleates of a particular formula. Said catalyst components when used in the polymerization of olefins, and in particular of propylene, are capable to give polymers in high yields and with high isotactic index expressed in terms of high xylene insolubility.

    There is provided a composition comprising a higher a-olefin copolymer (1) obtained by copolymerization in the presence of a specific olefin polymerization catalyst of a specific higher α-olefin, a specific α,ω-diene of the formula (I) and a specific non-conjugated diene of the formula (II), and a rubber (2) selected from the group consisting of a diene rubber, an ethylene/a-olefin copolymer, a nitrile rubber and a hydrogenated nitrile rubber. The composition is excellent in workability strength characteristics, weatherability, ozone resistance and dynamic fatigue resistance, as well as excellent in adhesive properties to fiber and in vibration-insulating properties and damping properties.

    A solid titanium catalyst component comprising (a) magnesium, (b) titanium, (c) a halogen, (d) a polyether, (e) a hydrocarbon and (f) an electron donor other than the polyether (d) as essential components is provided. Also a process for preparing a solid titanium catalyst component for olefin polymerization, comprising the steps of contacting a halogenated magnesium compound with a compound selected from the group consisting of an alcohol, an ether and an ester in a hydrocarbon solvent to obtain a magnesium compound solution, contacting the magnesium compound solution with a polyether and contacting the resultant solution with a liquid titanium compound is provided. Further, a catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising the above-mentioned solid titanium catalyst component, an organoaluminum compound catalyst component and an electron donor, and a process for polymerizing an olefin using the catalyst for olefin polymerization are also disclosed. By the use of the catalyst for olefin polymerization, an olefin (co)polymer having uniform particle size, less dust quantity, high bulk density and high stereoregularity can be obtained with excellent polymerization activity.

    The invention provides an alpha-olefin/polyene copolymer-containing olefin polymer comprising (i) an alpha-olefin/polyene copolymer obtainable by copolymerization of an alpha-olefin and a polyene compound having 7 or more carbon atoms, which has an olefinic double bond at both terminals, in which constituent units derived from the alpha-olefin is in an amount of 99.999 to 70% by mol, and constituent units derived from the polyene compound is in an amount of 0.001 to 30% by mol; and (ii) an olefin polymer. The invention furthermore comprises specific products comprising the above olefin polymer.

    There is provided by the invention a prepolymerized catalyst [I] being obtained by prepolymerizing an α-olefin and an polyene compound to [A] a transition metal compound catalyst component and [B] an organometallic compound catalyst component containing a metal selected from metals in Group I to Group III of a periodic table in the total amounts of the α-olefin and the polyene compound of 0.01 to 2,000 g per 1 g of the transition metal compound catalyst component [A]. There is also provided by the invention a catalyst for olefin polymerization formed from [I] the prepolymerized catalyst and [II] an organometallic compound catalyst component containing a metal selected from metals in Group I to Group III of a periodic table. The polymerization process of olefin according to the invention is characterized by polymerizing or copolymerizing olefin in the presence of the catalyst for olefin polymerization. The olefin polymer of the invention is an α-olefin/polyene copolymer-containing olefin polymer comprising (i) an α-olefin/polyene copolymer.
