    A novel hybrid macrocyclic receptor based on bile acid and calix[4]arene has been synthesized using the α-face of the bile acid and cone-conformation of calix[4]arene. Metal recognition properties of receptor were investigated. The receptor showed the strongest affinity for Hg2+ in acetonitrile. The stoichiometry of the Receptor:Hg2+ was 1:1.

    A bile acid based pyridino-triazole ligand to stabilize Cu(I) state has been developed. The ligand was found to catalyze click reactions of a number of alkynes and azides in presence of Cu(CH3CN)4.BF4 at very low catalyst loading and under milder reaction conditions.

    A series of bile acid based receptors having triazole unit along with some additional heteroatom containing moieties as coordinating units for transition metal ion recognition has been synthesized. The UV–Vis studies revealed that these receptors show significant multiple binding affinity for Hg2+, Cd2+, Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions.

    Bile acid-based 1,2,3-triazole ligands have been synthesized, which show excellent ability to stabilize silver nanoparticles. These AgNPs have been found to exhibit highly selective dual colorimetric sensing of Hg2+ and I ions.
