    Synthesis of crosslinked nanostructured saccharidic vinyl copolymers and their functionalization

    Saccharidic monomers and a macromonomer were synthesized and copolymerized in the presence of divinylbenzene (DVB) as crosslinker in conditions of separation of phases to give hydrophilic nanostructured sugar-based vinyl copolymers. Appropriate model molecules such as N-benzyl-D-gluconamide for the saccharidic copolymers and 4-(4-chlorobutoxy) benzaldehyde and (E)-4-(4-chloro-2-butenyloxy) benzaldehyde for electrophilic reagents prefiguring possible copper amine oxidase inhibitors allowed identification of conditions for useful monofunctionalizations mainly at the position 2 of the saccharidic units. The examined samples of the nanostructured copolymers from one of the monomers proved to be stable enough to tolerate the functionalization reactions without loss of morphology.     The present invention relates to aqueous binder compositions which are based on aqueous polymer dispersions, to processes for preparing them, and to their uses. The aqueous binder composition comprises: a) a water-insoluble polymer P in the form of dispersed polymer particles, i.e., in the form of an aqueous polymer dispersion, the polymer P being obtainable by polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers M, the monomers M comprising: 90% to 99.9% by weight, more particularly 92% to 99.5% by weight and especially 93% to 99% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers M, of at least one neutral, monoethylenically unsaturated monomer M1 of low water-solubility; and 0.1% to 10% by weight, more particularly 0.5% to 7% by weight and especially 1% to 5% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers M, of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated monomer M2 which is selected from monoethylenically unsaturated monomers which have at least two hydroxyl groups attached to vicinal C atoms, and monomers which carry a functional group which can be converted by hydrolysis into two hydroxyl groups attached to vicinal C atoms; and b) boric acid and/or at least one salt of boric acid.

    Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft wässrige Bindemittelzusammensetzungen auf Basis wässriger Polymerdispersionen, Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung und ihre Verwendungen. Die wässrige Bindemittelzusammensetzung enthält: a) ein wasserunlösliches Polymer P in Form dispergierter Polymerpartikel, d.h. in Form einer wässrigen Polymerdispersion, wobei das Polymer P erhältlich ist durch Polymerisation ethylenisch ungesättigter Monomere M, wobei die Monomere M umfassen: 90 bis 99,9 Gew.-%, insbesondere 92 bis 99,5 Gew.-% und speziell 93 bis 99 Gew.-%, bezogen auf die Gesamtmenge an Monomeren M, wenigstens eines gering wasserlöslichen, neutralen, monoethylenisch ungesättigten Monomers M1; und 0,1 bis 10 Gew.-%, insbesondere 0,5 bis 7 Gew.-% und speziell 1 bis 5 Gew.-%, bezogen auf die Gesamtmenge an Monomeren M, wenigstens eines monoethylenisch ungesättigten Monomers M2, das ausgewählt ist unter monoethylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren, die wenigstens zwei, an vicinale C-Atome gebundene Hydroxylgruppen aufweisen, und Monomeren, die eine funktionale Gruppen tragen, welche durch Hydrolyse in zwei, an vicinale C-Atome gebundene Hydroxylgruppen überführt werden können; und b) Borsäure und/oder wenigstens ein Salz der Borsäure.
