    The invention concerns a process for preparing an N-substituted carbamoyl-lactam compound having the formula by reactively admixing a polyhydroxy compound having the formula R(OH)n and a polyisocyanate having the formula OCN-R'-NCO, wherein said n is an integer a 3, R is the residual of a three or higher functional polyhydroxy compound, R' is an alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, or an aralkyl group having 6-25 carbon atoms, and Y is a C3-C14 alkylene group and reacting the product thereof with at least one lactam. The product prepared accordingly can advantageously be used in the preparation of nylonblockcopolymers, and more in particular in the reaction injection moulding of nylon.

    A method of recycling and reusing a tap water-soluble sulfonated polymer material from a structural component made using an additive manufacturing process comprises dissolving the structural component in water to disperse the sulfonated polymer material into the water. The sulfonated polymer material is precipitated from the water and recovered; then dried and reformed into a form suitable for subsequent use as a consumable feedstock in a subsequent additive manufacturing process.
