A systematic examination of enolboration-aldolization of propanoic acid has led to an efficient synthesis of anti-beta-hydroxy-alpha-methyl carboxylic acids in consistently high yields and diastereoselectivities by using B-bromodicyclohexylborane as the enolization reagent and triethylamine as the base.
