A catalytic system comprising an organoaluminum compound, polychloromethane, and a transition metal complex transforms cyclohexane into dimethyldecalins, cyclooctane into dimethyl- and ethylcyclohexane, and endo-tricyclo[5.2.1.0(2.6)]decane into its exo-isomer under mild conditions.
