    The multilayer structure is composed of a grafted high-density polyethylene resin layer directly attached to a resin layer of polyamide resin, polyester resin or a saponified copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, or to a metal layer. In such structures it has been difficult to provide adequate bond strength between the iayers, and delamination has previously tended to occur under severe operating conditions. The grafted high-density polyethylene resin layer composed of (a) 97 to 50 parts by weight of a high-density polyethylene resin having a density of 0.945 to 0.970 g/cm3 and being grafted with an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or functional derivative thereof, with or without a high-density polyethylene resin having a density of 0.945 to 0.970 g/cm3, (b) 3 to 50 parts by weight of an ethylene/4-methyl-1-pentene copolymer having an ethylene content of 93 to 99.5 moie% and a melt index at 190°C of 0.1 to 10 g/10 min., and (c) 0 to 20 parts by weight of a rubbery synthetic polymer or copolymer, the parts by weight of (a), (b) and (c) being per 100 parts by weight of resins (a) and (b) combined. The structures of the invention find use as, for example, packaging materials and building panels.

    A polyphenylene sulfide resin composition improved in the impact strength, toughness, high temperature resistance and solvent resistance properties is disclosed. The composition comprises (A) 60 - 99.5% by weight of a thermally cured polyphenylene sulfide material having a melt viscosity of 500 - 30,000 poises and which has been derived, by thermally curing, from a polyphenylene sulfide having a melt viscosity of 400 poises of higher and containing 0.05 - 5 mol% of amino groups on the basis of the phenylene sulfide repeating units, and (B) 40 - 0.5% by weight of a modified polyethylene material comprising at least one polyethylene onto which at least one unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or derivative thereof is graft-copolymerized in a proportion of 0.1 - 10% by weight of the total weight of said modified polyethylene material.

    An injection molded article for photographic photosensitive materials is disclosed, which is formed of a noncrystalline resin composition containing 50 wt% or more of a noncrystalline resin having a melt flow rate of from 1 to 60 g/10 min, a flexural modulus of elasticity of 20,000 kg/cm² or more and a thermal deformation temperature of 70°C or higher, from 0.1 to 45 wt% of one or more of a rubbery material, a thermoplastic elastomer and an ethylene copolymer resin, from 0.01 to 49.9 wt% of one or more of a light-shielding material and a fibrous filler and from 0.001 to 20 wt% of one or more of an antioxidant, an age resistor, an ultraviolet absorbent, a fatty acid metal salt, a radical scavenger, a hydrate double salt compound and an oxidation inhibitory synergistic effect-providing agent. Also disclosed are a method for forming the injection molded article for photographic photosensitive materials and a package using the injection molded article for photographic photosensitive materials.

    A one-pot, three-component process is described which involves both organo- and enzyme-catalysed carbon-carbon bond-forming steps. In the first step, an organocatalyst catalyses the aldol reaction between acetaldehyde and a glyoxylamide. After dilution with additional aqueous buffer, and addition of pyruvate and an aldolase enzyme variant, a second aldol reaction occurs to yield a final product. Crucially, it was possible to develop a reaction in which both the organo- and enzyme-catalysed reactions could be performed in the same aqueous buffer system. The reaction described is the first example of a one-pot, three-component reaction in which the two carbon-carbon bond-forming processes are catalysed using the combination of an organocatalyst and an enzyme.
