  elemental sulfur afforded the corresponding 1,2-thiaphosphirane 2-sulfide 6 via methylene(thioxo)phosphorane 5. Desulfurization reaction of 6 gave the corresponding thiaphosphirane 7 and the structure was analyzed by X-ray crystallography. Valence isomerism between 5 and 7 by heat or light was studied.
