    Interlocking Directorates: An Example of Tacit Knowledge Transfer
    摘要:
    This paper illustrates tacit knowledge flows between American and Canadian metropolitan areas. Using the spatial distribution of interlocking in Canada and the United States a spatial component is added to the resource dependency paradigm. Using a poisson regression model. components of cities that initiate and attract interlocking, and thus knowledge transfer, can be identified. From the results, the authors propose the concept of a "knowledge threshold" essential for the transfer of tacit knowledge. In Canada the "knowledge threshold" encompasses the entire country while it is more regionally based in the United States.

    Photolysis of 6-methylcholest-5-en-3β-ol nitrite and 4,4,6-trimethylcholest-5-en-3β-ol nitrite in benzene with monochromatic light respectively gave a seven-membered cyclic hydroxamic acid arising from rearrangement albeit in low yields. Photolysis of 3α-methylcholest-5-en-3β-ol nitrite and 3α,4,4-trimethylcholest-5-en-3β-ol nitrite respectively gave a nitroso dimer arising from β-scission.

    The irradiation of 6-methylcholest-5-en-3β-ol in benzene containing mercury(II) oxide and iodine gave 3α,5-epoxy-6-methylene-A-homo-4-oxa-5α-cholestane (23%) and 2-iodo-6-methyl-A-nor-2,3-secocholest-5-en-3-yl formate (32%). The thermally-induced reaction at 55–60 °C gave the former in a 16% yield. The corresponding photo-reaction of 4,4,6-trimethylcholest-5-en-3β-ol, however, gave 4,6-dimethyl-4-methylene-3,4-secocholest-5-en-3-al.
