sulfides to sulfoxides, alkenes to epoxides, and enamines to α-hydroxyketones. Optimal conditions were found that minimize the overoxidation of the product sulfoxides to sulfones and the hydrolysis of epoxides to diols. In some examples such as styrene derivatives, oxidative cleavage was observed instead of epoxidation. The enamine oxidations proceed via the initial formation of dimeric 2,5-diamino-1

The reaction of 1-methyl-3,5-dinitro-2-pyridone (1a) with ketones or aldehydes in the presence of ammonia gave alkyl- and/or aryl-substituted 3-nitropyridines (6) in moderate to high yields. Enamines derived from the ketones gave better results than did the ketones themselves; on the other hand, those derived from the aldehydes gave no 6 at all. On the basis of deuterium-labeled experiments, a mechanism comprising competitive ring transformations of 1a is proposed.

Abstract The reaction of enamines with ethyldiazoacetate (EDA) catalyzed by dirhodium and copper complexes provided γ‐keto esters in good yields. The influences of catalyst, reaction solvent, temperature, and structure of enamines on this transformation were investigated.

Transition metal catalyzed intermolecular hydroamination of the arylalkynes with aliphatic amine is generally problematic due to the good coordination between amine and metal cation. With the combination of 1,2,3-triazole coordinated gold(I) catalyst (TA-Au) and Zn(OTf)2 cocatalyst, this challenging transformation was achieved with good to excellent yields and regioselectivity. Compared to previously
Nucleophilic Reaction upon Electron-Deficient Pyridone Derivatives. XIII. Regioselective Synthesis of 2-Substituted 3-Nitropyridines by One-Pot Reaction of Either 4- or 6-Substituted 1-Methyl-3,5-dinitro-2-pyridones with Ketones and Ammonia
A one-pot synthesis of 2-substituted 3-nitropyridines was developed by a ring transformation of 6- or 4-substituted 1-methyl-3,5-dinitro-2-pyridones (2 or 3) with ammonia and enamines derived from ketones. Some intermediates having a 2,6-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane skeleton were isolated from reactions of 3. The ring transformation proceeds via an addition-addition-elimination-elimination mechanism.
